Behind the photograph

At the age of 9 we made the huge move from Australia to France. As with so many memories I only remember the good – the excitement of it all, how it all felt like an adventure and got me out of attending school for a couple of weeks.

Now my eldest is 9 himself, we have just undertaken the move in reverse. No language change this time around however the joys of quarantine, a long haul flight and of course a brand new school.

With everything involved in moving over I gave little thought to the boys’ adjustment. After all we were moving somewhere so many others dream of going. Sandy beaches, year round sunshine and a much more relaxed approach to school – of course they would love it all!

Both my boys on their first day at their new school

On their first day of school we did the obligatory photo, both of them in their new uniform by the front door. They looked happy, relaxed, ready for the day ahead. What the photo didn’t show was the nerves they were feeling. Walking into a new school where they didn’t know anyone or how things were done.

Luckily we have tools at our fingertips, tools they have personal experience of and full faith in. We have a collection of essential oil blends designed with children in mind (safe from 3 months +) and once again they proved to be a god send.

Not only are they safe to use, effective both immediately and with long term benefits, they give them power over their own health and well-being by being able to chose the one their need and applying it themselves.

This is what they turned to:

Stronger, a blend of rose, cedarwood, litsea and frankincense, provides both physical protection and mental strength to tackle what life throws at them.

Brave, a blend of wild orange, amyris, osmanthus and cinnamon, to give them the confidence to be themselves.

Thinker, a blend of vetiver, peppermint, clementine, and rosemary, to help them focus and avoid tiredness for their first day of school after 3 weeks off.

Stonger, applied down the spine.
Brave, applied on the chest.
Thinker, applied on the wrists.

Of course there was nothing to worry about, they came out of their very first day absolutely beaming and excited to return the next day.

This was a great reminder to remember there is always more to a photograph than meets the eye!
